Coronal Mass Ejection (06/20/13) - 40" Round

On June 20, 2013, a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) - aka Solar Flare - erupted from the Sun, traveling at speeds up to 1350 miles per second and with a force so powerful it disrupted Earth’s electromagnetic field, interrupting communications networks and power grids across the planet. You can read more about that event, and see the source photos on NASA’s website.

I researched CME’s and more for a recent video I made about the Sun. Part of that video required spending many hours learning about astronomical phenomena and researching photo and video archives. This painting is an homage to our Sun and the brilliant scientists who figured out how to capture the images that were a source of inspiration for this painting and the video alike.

Dimensions: 40” diameter round

Paintings are signed on the frame and can be signed on the front upon request. Prints are also available.
