I initially called this painting “traffic,” but my partner (jokingly) reminded me that a single semi-truck and a few other cars on the interstate hardly constitute “traffic” – unless you’re in South Dakota, in which case it still holds. We made a few cross-country road trips during the 2020 lockdown and working on this painting was a way to channel some of my inner turmoil and anxiety during that time. I painted and re-painted the sky many times over the course of a few months.
